Updates (Page 3)
July 2nd - Arduino Development (11:21AM)
Okay, so I have a simple test program set up. It just accepts what you send it one character at a time. Then it prints back to you the following: "ACK", the characters ASCII code, and the character itself. If you type 'ctrl-i' it will tell you how many character have been typed and how many packets (the total characters / 8) have been typed. Also if you type 'ctrl-w' it will send you the program info or type 'ctrl-d' to make it quit acting on serial input. Reconnecting to it serially seems to cause a reset (possibly because that's how programming it works) and will thus return it to acting on serial input. Now I just have to wait till I can get a ride to RadioShack to get those parts so I can make the PC serial to Apple IIe serial adapter and play with the super serial card a bit, After that I will need to make a serial to wires adapter as well as an rs-232 level shifter to connect the Apple IIe super serial to the Arduino board . Lastly I will have to acquire Modem.MGR, ProTerm or some other apple II terminal program so I can talk to the Arduino. Yes, I scrapped of writing my own program on that end in favor of Arfink's suggestion that the programs noted the above exist already and would simply my task considerably. All in all it should be an busy and eventful evening. I'll have to do something else until I can get a ride. Play some silly game like Wumpus maybe. Over and out.
P.S. I really like Tera Term, it's a very good terminal program for Windows XP. Hyperterminal is crap as far as I am concerned.
P.P.S. In other news, there seem some retrochallenge participants whose web sites are lacking! Namely: https://sites.google.com/a/aaronwolfe.com/cococoding/cocomud - no updates, what's the story (Lod), http://retro-net.org/~anonymousfreak/ - what, no updates or documentation?! (anonymousfreak), http://www.retro-net.org/~gavo/rc10/ - where'd poor Gavo go? (Gavo), http://rc.blackinkynothingness.com/ - well, white inky nothingness! (Togart). At least that was the case a second ago when I checked.
July 2nd - Parts (5:47PM)
Got the parts by half past three, but then I mowed the front lawn and got back to my computer. Now it's close to quarter of six and a slight bit of procrastination has set in. Might just be that i'm tired, not enough sunlight and fresh air probably. I hope I get to it this evening, it's been a slow day. I will definitely solder the adapter tonight, don't know if I'll get to test it (I do plan on it). The level-shifter may be destined for tommorow though. Got a very expensive $1.19 capacitor at radioshack (awful for 10uF) just so I'd have all the parts I need. Over and out.
July 2nd - Success (10:59PM)
Limited success. See pictures of WORKING adapter and proof of success here. Will do a proper post here and on blog tomorrow, got a headache and need to go to bed. WARNING: Pictures are very high-res, avoid like the plaque if your machine can't handle it. Downsized photos in future. Good Night, over and out.
